Brazil’s stock exchange B3 confirmed plans to launch futures contracts for Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) in 2025.
Speaking at an event with journalists on Friday, B3’s CFO André Milanez stated that the exchange aims to introduce cryptocurrency derivatives before the end of the year.
Additionally, B3 President Gilson Finkelsztain revealed that Bitcoin options are also under consideration as part of the company’s broader strategy to diversify its digital asset offerings.
Stock exchange B3 has been actively integrating cryptocurrency products into its portfolio. Bitcoin futures were introduced in April 2023 and have since gained significant traction, averaging R$5 billion in monthly trading volume. Beyond crypto derivatives, the exchange also lists various cryptocurrency exchange-traded products alongside equities, bonds, and other financial instruments.
Meanwhile, Brazil is making strides in cryptocurrency regulation. A newly proposed bill could enable traditional investment funds to invest in Bitcoin and other digital assets, potentially accelerating institutional adoption. Congresswoman Adriana Ventura, who introduced the proposal, believes this move could strengthen Brazil’s position as a crypto-friendly jurisdiction.
In addition, the government is working on crypto tax reforms, which are expected to be announced in early 2025. If implemented, these changes could provide a clearer regulatory framework and attract more institutional investors to the country’s growing digital asset market.
