Pump.fun Token Launch Rumors Officially Quelled

Alon Cohen, co-founder of the meme coin platform Pump.fun, has denied recent rumors about the Pump.fun token launch.

Addressing the speculation on February 9 via X, Cohen urged users to follow only official announcements from the team.

The rumors, which surfaced earlier in the day, suggested that Pump.fun was planning a Dutch auction in collaboration with unnamed centralized exchanges. Reports also claimed that the Pump.fun token would have a total supply of 420 million, with 50% initially unlocked for public sale. Additionally, there was speculation about an airdrop for early adopters.

Cohen dismissed these claims, stating that they were inaccurate. He reiterated that while Pump.fun remains committed to rewarding its users, its primary focus has been on product development over the past year.

Since its launch in January 2024, Pump.fun has become a key player in the meme coin ecosystem. Last year, the platform hinted at plans to introduce a native token as a reward for early users, though no specific timeline was provided and there have been no further updates on the initiative.
